My User Experience Of Cal 7 Deck
I bought Cal 7 deck 7 weeks and I was riding this board almost every day. On the deck it’s the paint on here the blue paint if I try to scratch it off it’s really really difficult to get off. But after weeks on weeks of sliding on concrete with not much wax on it. it will come off but the paint makes a great protective surface for it and gives you extra slides. which I love because I am not very good at both sides for no slides or I can’t even do a tailslide. So I know I’m gonna talk about that the board wax is really well it holds up two-wheel by pretty well too. So that’s not even that’s just taking the paint off that’s not even on the wood yet. The board itself it’s really really sturdy if you try to snap it won’t work. But I also do weigh like 140 pounds so it’s perfect for beginners and people who want to start out and it’s not that expensive either. so if you’re just now starting you should definitely go head to Cal seven.
Final Verdict
This great deck offers durability, great shape, excellent pop, and extreme control. All in one package. Shipping is very fast, and the deck comes well packed to avoid damage. You’re going to have all eyes turning in your direction when you hit the skatepark with this beautiful deck.
Pros
- Grip tape is a huge bonus.
- Has amazing snap and pop.
- Very fast shipping.
Cons
- Has too much flex.
- Grip tape comes folded and can get dirty before you install it.

Moose blanks have made a name for themselves. And, for us, there’s no greater evidence of this than the fact that we had to feature two products from this manufacturer on our list!
The best part of the deal is that these Moose boards are even more affordable than the first product mentioned. Not only are there no bad boards in this collection, but you have 11 solid color options in 7.75 and 8-inch width size formats to choose from here as well!
Design and User Experience
The wide range of colors and multiple-size options available here meant that we had a hard time choosing which way to go. We finally settled for the neon blue and pink Moose blanks and, yet again, Moose boards didn’t disappoint.
Not only did they provide the amazing quality experiences we’ve come to expect from this brand but we didn’t see immense pressure cracks which are commonly observed in poorer decks with defects when we put it through its paces.
Final Verdict
A great board to get on a tight budget, we were more than pleased with what we got. If these Moose boards have one flaw, it’s with board sustainability. While it did hold up well for the first couple of months of use, we found that the glue holding the 7-ply maple blank skateboard deck together wasn’t properly applied.
The result is that, over time, it got soggy and air bubbles started appearing inside of it. It’s possible this might be prevented if the Moose decks are used only on good terrain and stored very carefully.
Still though, if for no other reason than the reasonable price, astonishing performance, and awesome custom potential of these Moose decks, we’ll still be giving them a thumbs up.
Pros
- It’s available in a wide variety of sizes and colors.
- It delivers an awesome performance.
- It’s budget-friendly.
- It’s super-easy to control.
- The actual deck has perfect balance and stability.
Cons
- The 7-ply maple blank skateboard deck isn’t properly glued together.
What Is A Blank Skateboard Deck And Why Do I Need It?
Unless you understand what a blank deck is and why you should have one, there will be no need to go through the blank skateboard review below. A blank deck is exactly what you think it is: a skateboard deck that is blank. A skateboard deck is a part you stand on, and a blank one just means it has fewer graphics and brand advertisements.
The main reason why people get blank skateboards is to enjoy customization. From beginners who prefer to build their skateboards to professionals who want a customized product to fit their peculiar needs, blank skateboard decks can solve the problem of many users. When dealing with blank decks, you get to modify your skateboard according to your height, weight, preferred shape, and skating style. You can even make your unique design to reflect your personality and taste.
If your skateboard deck is broken, which is very common in the skateboarding world, it is cheaper to buy a blank deck than to get a whole new skateboard. Don’t forget you will also enjoy the benefits of customizing your skateboard to your taste after you purchase a board of your choosing.
Some people also buy these blank decks to use in woodwork projects. Blank skateboards can serve as the perfect canvas for several woody projects. They are easily maneuverable and usually simple to paint on and design.
What To Consider Before Buying A Blank Skateboard Deck?
Every blank deck on our review list is an exquisite choice. However, different personal factors, including your skateboarding style, height, and size, will dictate the type of deck best suited for your needs. Before you pay for any blank skateboard deck, make sure you consider the following points first.
- Material: wood is the most common material used in the manufacture of blank decks. However, you will find decks made from carbon fiber as well. Maple wood and bamboo are the most sought-after types of wood for deck manufacturing. While maple delivers stronger products, bamboo decks are more flexible and deliver more pop. You can choose the type of wood for your deck based on your preference but ensure you go for 7-ply or more. The more layers on your skateboard deck, the more durable it is. However, keep in mind that more plies directly translate to more money.
- Place of manufacture: the general bias in the industry is that blank decks manufactured in the USA and Canada are the best. Since some companies outsource their production to other countries like China to cut costs, those boards might not follow the rigorous compliance rules of the USA and Canada and subsequently might be lower class. If you can help it, stick to products made and modeled in the USA or Canada. This will ensure you’re getting only the best decks made from quality materials.
- Design: there are three most important elements when considering the design of a blank skateboard deck. They are shape, size, and concave. Skateboards come in different shapes, but the most common is the popsicle. Decks also range from micro size to full size. Always go for the size you are comfortable riding when selecting a new deck. The concave is arguably the most crucial of all three elements. Many techniques and tricks depend on the concave of the skateboard deck. Your level of comfortability will also be largely affected by the kind of concave the deck has.
- Other design considerations include mounting holes and wheelbases. Mounting holes are drilled into the deck for attaching trucks, and the wheelbase is the distance between two mounting holes. The placement and alignment of these holes are important for building your skateboard. Nevertheless, you can customize the deck further by drilling your holes and placing your preferred distance if you don’t like what is on your blank deck. It’s a little more work but can achieve it.
- Style: deck style affects skateboarding form. You will want to match your deck style with your skateboarding style. Street and park skateboarders who love to perform tricks will need a shortboard. Professionals usually prefer the symmetrical shape and low profile of a longboard. If you skate pools, ramps, or love to carve on roads, you should look for an old-school-style deck because of its flat nose and asymmetrical form. Lastly, Cruisers are versatile, maneuverable, mid-length decks perfect for riders who love to cruise.
Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, considering the above points before making a purchase will ensure you only choose the best blank decks available.
How To Maintain Your Skateboard Deck?
Skateboard decks are designed to be thoroughly thrashed. Because of the rigorous use, they are usually put through, decks don’t have a benchmark for expected lifespan. Nevertheless, you can increase the longevity of your board by observing some simple practices.
- Chips on the nose or tail of your deck are a sure signal that you only have a few days or even hours before your board is condemned. You can sand down the razor tail or glue back the chips for short ease on life.
- It’s a really bad sign if your board cracks near the trucks. If you can help it, get off your board immediately, notice this damage, and try to fix it. Or it might not survive another gnarly trick.
- Any moist dirt or mud on your deck or grip tape should be allowed to sun dry before you attempt to clean it up.
- Use water to carefully clean dirt off your blank deck but be careful not to use too much. Most decks are made of wood and might absorb water if overly exposed.
- The grip tape can also be clean out of your deck periodically. You can ignore a little dirt, but not too much, or your safety might be at risk. A good brush should be able to get most of the dirt off your grip tape or some grip gum. Avoid using water to clean your grip tape, or it can start to peel off.
Don’t beat yourself up if you’re not able to make your deck and best grip tape for the skateboard last forever. They are designed to be abused, so a more permanent solution will be to have replacements handy for when giving up.
CONCLUSION
You don’t have to buy a new skateboard every time your deck breaks. Blank decks are the ideal replacement for every skateboarder. Whether you’re a professional looking to customize a sick new skateboard or a novice wanting to design your own first skateboard, blank decks will work for you.
As a skateboarder, having the best blank decks in your arsenal will make a huge difference in how enjoyable your riding experience is. Everyone has different needs, so this is not a one size fits all product.
